training certificates (Attendance / continuing education)

We are happy you are engaging in our training! This page provides options for continuing education credits (CEs) and attendance certificates based on attending a training.

If you are interested in Seeking Safety
certification (demonstrating your ability to conduct the model, to assess fidelity, or to supervise), please see our certification page.

For individuals

If you attend any training provided by us (one of our open webinars or via your agency), you can obtain CEs for a fee, listed below.
Note: your agency may be providing them at no cost to you, so please check with your agency first (we don't want you to pay if they don't need to).
Continuing education credits (CEs)
  • The CE types we offer are listed here. If you're not sure what type you need, please contact a colleague or google it as each profession has its own standards.
  • If you're not familiar with the term CEs, read here.
  • You can sign up for 6 CEs per day of training.
  • How to obtain CEs?
    • For an open webinar you can sign up when you register or afterwards using this link, which also shows the fee. See our schedule of open webinars.
    • If your agency is hosting a training by one of our trainers, as long as we can verify that you attended, you can obtain CEs using this link (but best to email us to verify ahead; see next point).
    • ****Email us if any questions, before paying as there are no refunds on CEs, regardless of whether you attend the training or not.
Attendance certificates
  • Everyone who attends our open webinar receives a free attendance certificate.
For all certificates
  • Attendance is verified based on attending the full day of training. We verify by Zoom for webinars and via attendance sheets for in-person training.
  • Certificates are emailed within 9 business days of the training date.

For organizations

If your staff is attending our open webinar, see above. You can sign them up via our website store or email us if you prefer an invoice for the training and/or CEs. All attendees receive a free attendance certificate.

If you are booking a closed training (just for your organization), see the options below; and please note for a closed training, if you order certificates for your staff we will email them to you to distribute to your staff (and this way if they lose them you will be able to provide them ongoing).
Attendance certificates

You're welcome to create attendance certificates for your training, which simply verifies that a person attended the training. Here is an example certificate. Note that it states attendance only. Please do not use terms such as "certified in Seeking Safety," "train the trainer" or other similar language.
  • Webinar: you can request the Zoom attendance report and we will send that to you at no cost; but if you want us to generate attendance certificates there is a fee of $100 for any number of attendees. You can specify your attendance requests once the planning is underway.
  • Onsite training: if you need the trainer to sign the certificates, please print out the certificate and ask the trainer to sign it while at your location; the trainer can't do it after the training day.
  • Consultation calls: for theme-based consultation calls, we can issue attendance certificates for staff who attend 10 or more of these for a fee of $100 for any number of attendees.
Continuing education credits (CEs)
There are two options. If you're not familiar with the term CEs, read here.
Option #1: You set up the CEs. You would apply for CEs and conduct all CE-related tasks such as completing all CE forms, taking attendance via sign-in and sign-out, providing an evaluation, certificates, etc. You can download the information you need to apply for CEs:
  • Outlines and objectives (includes a timed outline)
  • Handouts
  • Trainer information (biosketch, introduction, photo)
  • Pre / post-training questions
  • Example of a sign-in/sign-out sheet
  • Example of an evaluation form.
Option #2: We provide CEs for a fee. You can purchase them in advance or after, as long as there is verification of who attended*. A list of our CE types is here (we are affiliated with a company that provides CEs). The 2022 cost is $42 per person for 6 CEs, e.g., a one-day Seeking Safety training; if it's a two-day training it's $84 for 12 CEs, etc. There are two ways to proceed.
     a. We can invoice you if your agency will be paying for the CEs for your staff. It would be your responsibility to identify which staff you would like CEs for.
     b. If you are asking your staff to pay for the CEs on their own, they can purchase them
before or after a training in our store (tell them to list the training date and your agency name).
For both "a" and "b" above:
  • *Webinar: if we set up Zoom, we use the automated Zoom attendance report. Important: let us know in advance or within 4 weeks of the training if you want us to obtain this as the Zoom report isn't stored after that. If you set up the webinar platform, please obtain the attendance report and email it to us.
  • Onsite training, please ensure use of a sign-in/sign-out sheet, which you need to retain for 3 years in case of audit by our CE company (but do not send them to us unless requested). After the training, send us an excel sheet with the name and email address of each person who earned CEs, the number of CEs (e.g., it's 6 for a one-day training), and the name of your entity as you would like it to appear on the certificates.
