shipping / Delivery information
We wish we ran the postal service and the internet, but, alas, we don't! But we'll do all we can to ensure you get your order delivered correctly and on time. Important-- please, please read below!
On your end...
1. Please include your organization's name, if there is one, on the shipping address. This helps the package get to the right place. Sorry but we can't be responsible for lost packages due to incorrect or incomplete shipping information you provide. If it's returned to us, we'll send it out again but if due to your error, we'll have to re-bill you for shipping. If our error, there's no charge-- we're good, honorable people :)
2. We use USPS unless you choose to use your Fedex or UPS account (see information on that further on this page). This means they deliver when they deliver-- it's not possible to specify a specific delivery time or person to give the package to. It's simplest to provide an address that accepts a delivery anytime, such as a home address if needed. But if you need a pre-planned delivery (e.g., only Monday to Friday, not on holidays, or handed to a specific person).a handy option is to use your Fedex or UPS account. See later on this page for how to do that.
3. If a package arrives damaged or missing items, you must email us within one month of your order date and must retain all of the original packaging and any damaged items. Postal services have strict timeframes for filing a claim and require extra steps. There are rarely problems but if one occurs, we want to resolve it. Email [email protected] and we'll get right on it!
4. If your package doesn't arrive within the time frame listed further down this page, let us know within one month of your order date so we can check online tracking. We don't make up the rules-- the postal service does, and if we don't contact them within their timeframe, we get ghosted.
5. Please note we can't be responsible for packages that postal tracking shows as delivered to the address you provided. If your mailroom clerk has sticky fingers, well, that's an inside job. Once you contact us, we'll provide the tracking so you can verify the delivery. You can also contact your local post office to see if they have information. Be friendly with your mail carrier too-- sometimes they can help!
6. For electronic items (e-books, webinar registration, teaching guides) be sure your email address is accurate. If your email bounces, we can't reach you and have to wait for you to contact us.
7. For webinars, read our webinar information. It has all you need to know: when the Zoom link will be sent, handouts, refunds, etc. If you're signing up someone else, be sure they see it to.
On our end...
Timeframe. Electronic orders (ebooks, online learning, etc.) typically are sent same day or next day. Mailed orders are processed and shipped / sent within 3 business days (but sooner when we're feeling energized and well-caffeinated). For delivery to a US address we ship via the US Postal Service (USPS), using the first two options below. As they say, “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” The arrival time is based on the shipping type you select.
Cost. Shipping costs will depend on what you order (our small items have free shipping; larger items such as books and DVDs have shipping charges). Cost will also depend on what you order. When you check out you'll see the shipping cost before the sale is complete.
Tracking. All items are shipped with delivery confirmation, which allow us to verify whether the item was delivered. Please wait the length of time listed above based on the shipping method you selected. The US Postal Service has its mysterious ways, but eventually the vast majority of packages do arrive. Please note that if USPS tracking shows the item as delivered, and if we used the shipping address you provided, we have done our job (and we take pride in that!). However, if tracking doesn't show its safe arrival, that's on us. See more below...
Receipt / packing slip. You'll receive an automated receipt for your order when you check out from our online store. Note: we don't use packing slips when we ship, for various reasons (e.g., for media mail they are not allowed per US Postal regulations).
Refunds/returns. Please see our policies.

- Media mail (USPS). This is the least expensive but slowest. Allow our 3 business days for us to process the order, plus around 4 weeks for USPS to do its magic (occasionally a little longer for some areas, such as the West Coast, Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico). Media mail is only for U.S. delivery addresses.
- Priority mail (USPS). Speedy time! Allow our 3 business days plus 3 days for USPS to do its magic; but please note that per the US Postal Service, the time frame is not guaranteed. If you need guaranteed quick delivery please use another option below.
- Need overnight or guaranteed 2 or 3 day shipping? Super speedy! Email us (we check it constantly) or text us at 617-299-1670 and we can place a phone order and bill you for $5 handling (to fund our caffeine habit) plus the USPS Express Mail actual cost, which would be calculated when you contact us.
- Fedex or United Parcel Service (UPS). Yes you can! If you'd like to use one of these shippers, we can let you know the weight / size of the box, and you would prepay it using your Fedex or UPS account or your credit card, specifying pickup from our location and scheduling the pickup; and then email us the shipping label to put on the box. To use this option, contact our friendly orders champ at [email protected].
- Note: some items ship separately and may arrive sooner or later than other items. Posters ship in a mailing tube, for example, and have a will of their own.
