Seeking safety for adolescents

Can Seeking Safety be used with adolescents? Yes. It has been used for many years by many different programs, very successfully, using the existing Seeking Safety book.

Evidence? There is a randomized controlled trial with positive findings on Seeking Safety with adolescents. There is also a pilot study with youth.

Training? One of our training team members, Summer Krause, is an expert on use of Seeking Safety with adolescents. She is available for phone consultation and/or regular training through us (email training@seekingsafety.org).
  • Our regular Seeking Safety onsite training can be focused on the topic of adolescents, if desired.
  • We have five phone consultation calls, Theme-Based Calls on Seeking Safety for Adolescents
          1. General principles in conducting Seeking Safety with adolescents
          2. Tackling adolescents' substance abuse and other unsafe behavior

          3. Helping adolescents understand and recover from trauma using Seeking Safety
          4. Working with parents / caregivers as part of adolescent Seeking Safety
          5. Adolescent special populations and "tough cases"
You can do as few or many of these as desired. Please see our Fact Sheet on Training to learn more about our training options and costs.

Is there a separate version of Seeking Safety for adolescents? There is no adolescent Seeking Safety book although one may be written within the next few years. The regular Seeking Safety book is used and works fine. Also you may be interested to know there is a new book by Lisa that may be of interest and can be used with adolescents as well as adults.
