NEW! Seeking Safety Adolescent Toolkit (2023) by Summer Krause, LPC, CADCIII, CCTP
The Seeking Safety Adolescent Toolkit was written by Summer Krause LPC, CADCIII, CCTP, in collaboration with Treatment Innovations. Summer is a senior Seeking Safety trainer who specializes in use of the model with adolescents. The Toolkit offers an exciting new option for those implementing Seeking Safety with adolescents to address the developmental needs of that population. The Toolkit is for anyone working with adolescents (counselors, teachers, correctional care staff, community helpers, etc.). It is a supplement for use in conjunction with the Seeking Safety book, not a stand-alone guide.
*See a short video about it! or a longer video.
*We also have upcoming Adolescent Toolkit 1-day open webinars that anyone can register for (as well as other webinars)
The Toolkit is a 259-page paperback book that includes a guide for the facilitator; general principles for implementing Seeking Safety with adolescents; resources for adolescents, their caregivers, and treatment staff; and chapters for each of the 25 Seeking Safety topics. Each chapter offers the following:
>> Activity Options: engaging ideas for conducting the topic with adolescents that incorporate games, art, activities, and other youth-relevant elements.
>> Quotation Coloring Sheet: an alternative quotation printed on a unique coloring sheet for youth. The quotations come from children’s books, comics or movies that may be familiar to youth.
>> Key Points Handout: a summary of the topic in a nutshell, with youth-friendly language and examples.
>> Adolescent Example of the Safe Coping Sheet: a youth-specific scenario relevant to the topic.
The Toolkit is currently available only in paperback (not electronic) format, but guidance is given on how to conduct some activity options virtually.
You can photocopy the Toolkit for personal use only (with your own clients), but not post electronically, share with other facilitators, nor adapt or republish without advance written permission. For inquiries email [email protected].
