This set of four Seeking Safety Training DVDs was developed under a grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and totals 4.5 hours. Each DVD #1, #2, #3, #4 can also be ordered separately. The set includes the following.
DVD #1: An overview of Seeking Safety with Lisa Najavits (developer of the model), including clips from real clients and clinicians. Powerpoint notes appear throughout. It is a 2-hour version of her standard initial training, including background on trauma and substance abuse; Seeking Safety overview; implementation; studies; and frequently-asked questions. Note: in 2021 there is also a 1.25 hour video overview of Seeking Safety available.
DVD #2: An example of a Seeking Safety session with real clients on the topic Asking for Help, conducted by Lisa Najavits, with teaching points onscreen throughout [1 hour]
DVD #3: (a) A Client's Story -- a man describes the impact of sexual abuse and addiction, and his attempts to obtain treatment [20 minutes]. (b) Example of Teaching Grounding to a real client, using the grounding script from Seeking Safety [16 minutes]
DVD #4: Session for Fidelity Rating. A clinician conducts a group session with real clients, unscripted, on the topic Healthy Relationships from the Seeking Safety book. The session displays both good and poor elements, and offers a learning exercised when used with the Seeking Safety Adherence Scale, the Seeking Safety Adherence Scale Score Sheet and the detailed expert rating (free downloads). [1 hour]

DVDs versus electronic viewing option. This item is the 4-DVD set is NTSC format, a technical specification used in North American and parts of South America. The DVDs were created in 2005; all of the information on Seeking Safety is still accurate. The DVD is copyrighted and can be played from a computer or DVD player but cannot be uploaded to any system nor copied. Our DVDs are in paper sleeves to minimize environmental impact. If you prefer an electronic version (rather than physical DVDs), a licensing arrangement is possible (email [email protected]).
