All 4 Seeking Safety Training Videos - New! Now in electronic format (4.5 hours total)
New in 2024! We've joined the 21st century and now offer electronic access (for those who prefer it to the DVD format).
This set of four Seeking Safety Training Videos was developed under a grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and totals 4.5 hours. You can also obtain the videos in DVD format if preferred.
Video #1: An overview of Seeking Safety with Lisa Najavits (developer of the model), including clips from real clients and clinicians. Powerpoint notes appear throughout. It is a 2-hour version of her standard initial training, including background on trauma and substance abuse; Seeking Safety overview; implementation; studies; and frequently-asked questions. Note: see also a 1.25 hour video overview of Seeking Safety.
Video #2: An example of a Seeking Safety session with real clients on the topic Asking for Help, conducted by Lisa Najavits, with teaching points onscreen throughout [1 hour].
Video #3: (a) A Client's Story -- a man describes the impact of sexual abuse and addiction, and his attempts to obtain treatment [20 minutes]. (b) Example of Teaching Grounding to a real client, using the grounding script from Seeking Safety [16 minutes].
Video #4: Session for Fidelity Rating. A clinician conducts a group session with real clients, unscripted, on the topic Healthy Relationships from the Seeking Safety book. The session displays both good and poor elements, and offers a learning exercised when used with the Seeking Safety Adherence Scale, the Seeking Safety Adherence Scale Score Sheet and the detailed expert rating (free downloads). Important notes
- How the electronic method works. You will be sent information on how to login to view the videos for the time period you selected. You can share the login information with your staff but cannot charge anyone for viewing nor share it with anyone outside of your own staff. We trust you to respect these aspects.
- The videos are copyrighted and cannot be downloaded, duplicated, or distributed. Thanks for understanding that.
- If you have a learning management system, we have a licensing option-- email us for information on that.
- The videos were created in 2005. All of the information on Seeking Safety is still accurate but they are not updated for DSM-5.
- Each video -- #1, #2, #3, #4 -- can also be ordered separately (but for now only in DVD format).
