becoming a trainer
We greatly appreciate your interest in engaging others to learn Seeking Safety and/or our other models.
1. If you are looking to help others in your own agency learn about Seeking Safety, and they won't be charged to attend, that's great! Please see the options below: Also the FAQ section on training, which lists all that you may want to know.
2. For any other situation, see our list of certified trainers; all have been certified by us to provide the training. Please note that Seeking Safety training is service-marked by the US Patent and Trademark Office and although we welcome your interest, you cannot charge others to attend a training nor open it up to the public unless you become one of our certified trainers (see next section).
3. If you are looking to become a certified trainer for us, please see below. We welcome new trainers. Please note that 'trainer' here refers to certified trainers.
What we offer
1. The opportunity to share your wisdom and have a positive impact.
2. On-site training, webinars, and phone consultation-- you could choose to do some or all of these. Onsite training requires travel but webinars and phone consultation you can do from your location.
3. For onsite training and webinars, you would be paid a speaker fee for each day of training. The current speaker fee for a full day training typically starts at $750 (but varies based on experience) and the typical length of teaching time for a day is 6 hours total. If travel is involved, all travels costs are also covered in addition. Phone consultation is paid on an hourly rate. We can go over the rates when we speak with you by phone.
4. Full support: we will train you on how to do the training; we create the slides and videos, and we handle the logistics. We also pay you within 30 days of your invoice to us.
5. You will get feedback on your trainings.
What we look for
1. People who already have experience conducting Seeking Safety
2. For onsite training: people who are available to travel. We get requests from around the country although, if preferred, you can choose a region such as 'West Coast' or 'Southern U.S.' But there are no required number of days you need to travel. All of our trainers have other jobs. We offer them training opportunities and they can decide to accept them or not.
3. People who care about trauma and addiction.
4. Please note that there are no specific requirements in terms of professional degree, background, or license.
Next steps
1. Read our Becoming a Trainer document to learn more.
2. After reading the document, answer the questions at the bottom of it and send that and your resume to Jamie Miller, our training coordinator ([email protected]); be sure to include your prior experience conducting Seeking Safety and any other details you'd like to share.
