History
Treatment Innovations was created in by Lisa Najavits, PhD, the developer of Seeking Safety, in the 1990s to respond to agencies' requests for training, research, and materials on the model. She and her team have decades of experience in these areas.
Mission
Our mission is to provide resources to improve the quality of care for people with trauma, addiction and related problems. Treatment Innovations bridges the worlds of
- Evidence: research-based models
- Compassion: a public-health approach to serve vulnerable populations
- Action: practical options for training and implementation
Values
Our primary values are to create options that are:
- Flexible and relevant across diverse settings, including community-based mental health and addiction programs, criminal justice, homelessness programs, veteran and military settings, adolescent and school programs, domestic violence, and primary care and hospitals.
- Appealing to clients and providers-- emotionally engaging, practical, and easy to implement by the full range of professionals as well as peers, paraprofessionals, and advocates
- Cost-effective and scalable for group and individual modality
