Part 1 of a professionally produced set of educational DVDs on trauma and substance abuse.  The series offers perspectives on treatment by Lisa Najavits, Francis Abueg, Pamela Brown, Bonnie Dansky, Terence Keane, and John Lovern; as well as several people in recovery from various types of traumas and substances. Produced by Cavalcade Productions in 1998. This DVD is for clinicians, and runs for 46 minutes. Part I topics include: (a) schism between substance abuse and ptsd fields; (b) prevalence of substance abuse among trauma survivors; (c) psychological symptoms; (d) legal and medical problems; (e) stages of treatment; (f) therapy with military veteran clients; and (g) new treatment models.  You can also order Part 2, Special Treatment Issues, for clinicians; and a condensed version for clients of the two parts. Note: This DVD series does not focus on Seeking Safety-- a Seeking Safety DVD training series is also available.
