Guilford press language

In 2019 an entity alerted us that the Seeking Safety book has a disclaimer on one of the initial pages that states, "these materials are intended for only use by qualified mental health professionals." For that entity this created a problem as they wanted to have non-mental-health providers conduct Seeking Safety. The disclaimer was a standard legal notice that Guilford Press lists in all of its books. We let Guilford know of this problem and, as of 2020, Guilford Press will be changing that language in new print runs of the Seeking Safety book to state, "these materials are not intended to be a substitute for treatment by qualified health professionals." In sum, Seeking Safety can be conducted by anyone, regardless of degree, training, or license.
